Ok, let's consider something like this for next seasons draft... Rounds 1-3 the way we currently do it. Rounds 4-6 via list... yes I realize the lists will have to be 41-60 players deep but if I and/or Luxury Tax is willing to sort through them and post the draft results it shouldn't be too much effort for you guys to come up with a decent size list of players you want.
My main reasoning for this is that for the most part, people lose interest in the draft after the first few rounds... the last 2 rounds for sure are just roster filler and longshots. We were sailing through the draft until about the 4th round, then everything really ground to a halt at a couple points in the 5th and now in the 6th.
I realize some people (me included) like analyzing the situation of their pick as it comes up, but for efficiency sake, this system would offer us a much smoother transition into the season and wouldn't force us to start the draft so early either.
Food for thought, let's discuss it at least and maybe throw around variations of this or totally different ideas.

d**n, 4-6? Wouldn't that be too much? Since we completed the draft 5 days before, We could probabily use just the 5th and 6th with list (or just the 6th). I don't like the Idea, but I understand your point and I share it. But I think 40 players or 20 will be easier, and 4th round is still decent.

I hate lists... let me just go on record with that.
However, I understand everyone's concern, and we'll definitely address any possible way of making the draft more user and schedule friendly.
I think a month and a half is too long for the draft and ideally we'd just get everyone online at the same time one day and do a live draft... however, a 20 team league makes the logistics of that next to impossible. I think we can definitely find a better way to do it than we did this year, and I understand concessions may have to be made.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank everyone for their participation in this year's draft. We had a lot more defaults than I'd like to see, but other than that, we still got in before season tip-off, so I'm not unhappy. Thanks guys and I will have the teams entered on the yahoo page tonight and set the league to active. It can take up to 48 hours max for the automated system to activate the league, which means we should be up and running by Sunday at the latest, but check in every day starting tomorrow just in case.

just noticed... for next year, Yahoo now gives the ability to set keepers if the league is set to live draft or auto draft. Something to think about.

I think they had that option for this season too.
I'm pretty against lists. Not only am I too lazy to make one with so many players, I'm pretty sure that'd be unbelievably tedious for you guys to go through all that garbage.
You can preset individual draft picks in the draft now anyways before the draft begins. That helps a lot with trading draft picks during the season
