Yeah, draft is goin a bit slow. Once everybody makes their first round selection and realizes draft is in session, hopefully things pick up.

It seemed like a good idea to start a new draft thread for the 2nd round as opposed to continuing the round 1 thread, so you didn't have to go to page 3+ to see who's pick it is... So I went ahead and did it.
As for the speed of the draft, yah it's a little slow right now... but I'm not going to enforce anything unless it gets worse. If it ever takes more than a week to do a single round of drafting, I'll start looking at something to speed up the process.
That said, I'd like to ask everyone to check in regularly to see where we are in the draft... especially if your pick is coming up soon. I know we have given everyone 18 hours to make the pick, but there's really no reason to take the full time to do so unless you're working 16 hour shifts or away from a computer for that amount of time.
However, if you will be away from a computer for an extended amount of time, and your pick is coming up, I'll remind you that you can save us all time and avoid a default pick if you simply send 4pt or Luxury Tax a shortlist of players to pick for you in order of how you'd rate them. Include enough names to cover the number of picks between when you send the list and your actual pick (ex. last weekend I was out of town so I sent 4pt a short list. When I left for the weekend, we were waiting for pick 9 so I left him a list of 5 players. So on the off chance that 4 of the players on my list got drafted before my pick, I'd still have a player available for my pick at 14...)
Anyways, I want to thank everyone who has been prompt with their picks. It helps to offset the long waits and the defaults.

Rule Proposal/Idea: Regarding draft time expiration. Why do you give the absentee owner the default player?
Have you discussed leaving the draft slot open? Skipping the absentee GM. Allowing the next GMs to pick freely.
-When the absentee owner returns he can slip his pick in at any time.
-Or to penalize the absentee GM. Move his pick to the back of the round.
Thoughts?

crossing my fingers hoping Peja can stay healthy and on the court. His 2-3 three's per game and near .90 FT% will help my team.
Can we get like a "2009-2010 rosters" thread going? so we can get an idea of how our rosters are shaping up, without having to sift back and forth through the keeper and draft threads.

I believe there were discussions of how to deal with defaulted draft picks a couple of years ago, and it was decided at that time that using the yahoo rating to grant a defaulted pick was the fairest way to go. Personally, I think getting a defaulted pick is often punishment enough for missing the deadline, and it's just easier to assign the pick and move on rather than move the pick back or leave it blank. The current system basically makes it easier for everyone to just move on after a default. There's no questions of who that pick is going to be and there's less red tape for me to have to deal with than leaving the pick blank or moving it down the draft. While you could say the current system is too forgiving to defaults, I'm inclined to err on the side of keeping things fair, fun and moving along. I'm open to suggestions to improve the draft process, and will take your suggestions into account, but I'm less likely to change the draft in process than to make improvements for next year. -Luxury Tax

If you want to keep track of your own roster, feel free to do so on your roster's page. If you mean having a thread keeping tabs of everyone's roster as the draft goes on, I'm afraid I don't have the time or frankly the inclination to do so at the moment. If someone else wants to start a thread for this and is willing to update it, I give my full blessing. -Luxury Tax

I guess, I was asking if maybe we could now create a "2010 teams" sub-forum or thread, where all of us post up our own up-to-date rosters just like in 09. Fresh start to the new season idk... that way all those old rosters / keepers / last-revisions leading up to the draft are sort of left intact... I did notice some GM's editing those rosters or adding post to their team, now that you mention it... and I'm cool with that too. .....not tryin to be a stick in the mud

For the time being I'd say post your current (evolving) roster as a reply to your team page if you wish to keep a record of your pre-draft roster. Or if you prefer to have your current roster as your first post but still would like to save a copy of your pre-drft roster for posterity, quote your predraft roster as a reply to your roster thread and then modify the original post.

I guess I can cross him off my list then ... Nice pick Strippers. With questions surrounding S-Jax's desire to be traded, and the type of numbers Morrow put up last year in limited minutes, I'm interested in seeing what he can do this year. (aside... those last few picks before you pick are the most stressful... just watching as those people select guys you've been targeting from early on really sucks ... it's like losing at bingo... also, I gotta say, you guys are on the ball this year... some really informed picks being made... I can usually rely on some steals dropping to rounds 3+ but it's gonna be tough this year... )

Dang, Derozan, Jack and Belineli all gone before mid 2nd round, I was hoping one of those guys would get slept on a little. Nice nab Lakers, I figured Marco would have went before Jack.

Wilcox game has been on full display for years. We all know what he has to bring to the table. Nothing explosive or average for that matter. The Pistons are his best chance to do anything. With Kwame and Maxiell as his only competition, its now or never.

I can't believe David Andersen was taken on 3.05 when I was hoping to draft him at 3.06
