Talk 09-10 draft here. Lets not clutter the main draft selection thread.
Can we also enforce an official draft pick format?
1.01 - Blake Griffin (Forward - LAC)
Good?
M'Town Goatees - Stephen Curry (GS) 3 - Showtime (formerly Team Brown) - Hasheem Thabeet (Mem)
1.01 - Blake Griffin (F -LAC) - 4PP 1.02 - Stephan Curry(SG - GS) - Goatees 1.03 - Hasheem Thabeet (C - MEM) -Showtime "Lakers" (aka Team Brown) 1.04 - Brandon Jennings (PG - MIL) - 1.05 - Tyreke Evans (PG - Sac) - KR 1.06 - James Harden (SG - OKL) - Tian
Dicuss... ;D

I was a bit surprised with the Thabeet selection. But I have not analyzed goatees roster.
I will not be continuing my draft list. LT has a firm handle on his responsibility.
***Please do not name undrafted players***out of respect to the gms with upcoming picks.
SC, You surprised me with the Jennings pick.
Enough with the rookies bring on the vets.

I won't name any undrafted players of course...
As for my Jennings pick... With the makeup of my team (full of up and comers, no top-20 player), and the league being so deep, I wasn't concerned with taking the player who will necessarily contribute immediately - like maybe Evans or Harden or some decent non-rookies. I actually like that he went to Europe and didn't have it easy, it's humbling. I think Jennings is being slept on in most fantasy circles mainly because of his questionable attitude, probable low FG%, and a few of other things. But, what I like about Jennings is when he is actually on the court, he doesn't lack selflessness at all. He's one of the most "true" point guards of the rookies. He lead the summer league (takin with a grain of salt) with 8.2 apg. He seems loud and obnoxious, but he also seemed to gel with the young Bucks SL roster and impress GM John Hammond. Jennings is lightning quick & can stop on a dime, has a three point shot, has a knack for steals, and also he's left-handed which has it's advantages. I don't think he lacks NBA skills by any means, he'll just need to harness it and maybe bulk up a bit... Rajon Rondo is also a true PG who is top-5 in STL per game in the NBA, I like the combo of him and Jennings (and TJ Ford and Westbrook). Needless to say, I'm looking to dominate in assists.
I looked at Tyreke Evans heavily. He's tall and built to play well in the NBA. What made me pass was, he's more of a SG who is going to have to transition to PG. His 3.9 assists to 3.6 turnovers in college troubles me a tad for someone who didn't play alot of point guard. But Evans looks incredibly talented and will get to the FT line a ton for the Kings. It was hard passing on him (and a couple of other rooks), but Jennings was the one I wanted and I knew he wouldn't be there come my next pick.
Thabeet selection surprised me too. I was considering handcuffing him with my Marc Gasol, but didn't get a chance.... James Harden looks like he's going to be a great well rounded player. Considered picking him up as well.

I was a bit peeved about trading my 1st rounder for Randolph, but looking at this draft class, and having Blake go first, im happy about it now. GO GRIZZLIES!!

Thabeet is a high risk high reward pick. Watching him from UConn, I could tell you that he is absolutely not ready on the offensive end for NBA ball. But he has made more strides year from year than any UConn player I can remember. Whenever he gets his chance, he will be an elite rebounder and shot-blocker. IMO, he is going to be brought up similar to the way Bynum was brought up. So he likely won't have a significant impact for a few years.

LT has a firm handle on his responsibility. LOL... thanks KR, but if you're going to give me credit I'm going to have to share it with 4PT as he usually takes care of the actual running of the draft as well as me and we share Commish duties. Just wanted to make sure credit goes where it's due. Oh, and I too was surprised by both the Thabeet and Jennings picks, tho I agree with Sc's assessment of him, I wasn't expecting him to go top 10. As for Thabeet, I don't think he's a top ten Talent in this draft but that's part of the fun of this... different people assessing different players and their situations differently than others. Besides I'm itching to make my pick

I needed a Center with potential. Im not going to turn it around this season or next but in a couple of season from now it would be great having a strong defensive Center.

two questions.
does hoopitup know he's on the clock? I think he was logged in and posted in the "trades" earlier... (if you do know hoopitup, not trying to rush you man!)
are we supposed to be PM'ing the next person in line to draft after we make our pick?

If I am around to email someone that they are on the clock I will, but it really is everyones own responsibility to check in on their own... it would only take someone 30 seconds to click a bookmark and see if they are on the clock or at least coming up soon.

While it's not necessary to pm the next person on the clock, it is common courtesy to state at the end of your pick who is picking next.

Team Brown selects Jordan Hill So the trade shakes out... Jordan Hill for Okafor. Even if you got Derozan for Okafor. Okafor has top 65 value in standard 9 cat leagues. Obviously he drops a bit in our pg or assist heavy setup. But still....the adjusted value of a 1.09(9th rounder) equals selection 169. Basically a 100 picks difference. Okafor is healthy as an OX. Never had injury concerns. Could lead the league in blocks. Will lead the league in ally oop finishes. Jordan Hill had a terrible summer league. 4PP's entire team will need to be comatose for an entire week to be beaten. Practically has zero holes on his squad. While one player does not make a team unbeatable (MJ excepted), 4pt does have a knack for hoarding talent. Every fall he trades away what we all consider cornerstone pieces and every year he somehow manages to replace them. That said.. Nothing is written in stone until the games are played. Match-ups are a huge mitigating factor in head-to-head, and just cuz a guy has had 2 straight 82 game seasons doesn't mean he can't tear an ACL or something tomorrow. Not saying it's gonna happen, and 4Pt is definitely one of the early favorites, but it's not like this trade guarantees him the championship. It certainly doesn't hurt him tho...
